Planning
Reorder from real demand, not from the last stockout.
Momentum's planning module calculates stock-adjusted demand velocity per SKU and channel, flags reorder and expiring-lot risk, and closes inventory each month with an audit-grade rollforward — for the 3PL and, through the portal, for its brands.

The problem
Why do inventory forecasts keep missing?
Raw sales velocity undercounts demand whenever a SKU was out of stock: zero sales on a day with zero inventory isn't zero demand. Plan from that number and the next reorder is too small, which causes the next stockout, which makes the number worse.
- Velocity dragged down by days out of stock
- Channel spikes (wholesale, promotions) blended into DTC demand
- Lots expiring on the shelf before anyone notices
- Month-end inventory that doesn't roll forward cleanly
How it works
How does Momentum plan inventory?
- 1
Stock-adjusted demand
Velocity per SKU computed only over days the SKU could actually sell, with the channel mix shown separately.
- 2
Reorder status
Cover in days against lead time and safety stock, flagged critical, reorder or healthy.
- 3
Lot and expiration risk
Units at risk of expiring before they sell, valued, per lot.
- 4
Monthly close
An audit-grade inventory rollforward on the first of every month from daily snapshots.
Capabilities
What's in Inventory Planning
What each piece does, in plain terms.
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Demand browser | Raw vs. stock-adjusted velocity with channel mix per client and SKU. |
| Lot write-off risk | Expiring and at-risk lots, valued. |
| Monthly inventory close | Opening + received − shipped ± adjustments = closing, per SKU. |
| Reorder recommendations | Reorder points and quantities from adjusted velocity, lead time and safety stock. |
| Brand-facing planning | Critical and past-due inventory alerts in the client portal. |
What changes
Fewer stockouts for your brands
Reorders sized to demand that the stockout itself was hiding.
Less expired inventory
At-risk lots surface while they can still be sold or moved.
A 3PL that helps plan
Planning support becomes part of why brands stay.

FAQ
Inventory Planning: common questions
What is stock-adjusted demand?
Sales velocity calculated only over days a SKU had inventory available. It removes the downward bias that out-of-stock days put on a simple average.
Can brands see planning data?
Brands see inventory health, expiring lots and critical-stock alerts for their own SKUs in the client portal.
